A few of my favorite's

Rad little rat of a bike. Kinda rowdy in a brown motorcycle kinda way. Just simply a cool bike.

Just a totally cool bike, art more  like it.

Tres' bike...it is this bike's 6th birthday in it's born again life with the Tucker's.

Liked this bike too, kinda ratty...and the pad on the fender for the passenger...burlap would be cool.

Totaly cool little boy on his dad's chopper.
I'm pretty sure that I may have talked about motrorcycles on this blog before, but just in case I haven't....I think they are totally cool. I mean I love to ride them, look at them, dream about all the different kinds of bikes out there and how and where to ride them. Rhody Daze is quite a display of harley's and choppers and all sorts of bikes. I really love to look at all the bikes and their rider's too. It is a bit of a sub-culture, which is exciting and intriguing to me. I love the sub-cultures of so many...surfers, motor cycle clubs, crafters, cyclists, gardeners. Yes I know totally random and quite dynamic, which again is what I love. No rhyme or reason for such varying interests other than I have never been way too into  one thing(except my boys) and to have the freedom to have so many differnt interests is just down right exiciting to me. So what ever gets you hopped up and having fun, I suggest you go for it. For me this weekend brought me great enthusiasm over motorcycles, rhododendrons,  & knitting whoa whoo! and check out a favorite motorcycle blog of mine...

Yarn bomb

I was so excited to see that Old Town in Florence was covered in knitting and crocheting! yes every where! posts, signs, trees, bike parking! It was refreshing to see a progressive form of art hit Florence. Loving it! Inspiring too, but to have this yarn show up at the same time as hundreds of motorcycles just made me laugh out loud and love the eclectic show of Rhody Days.

Friday Night Fun for Rhody Days!

Good times were certainly had. Three hours of non stop rides, we definitely got our money's worth on the arm bands...(thanks Grandpa!)  I  can remember going to this same carnival when I was a li'l kiddo with my dad. My brother and I would go on as many rides as we could in the amount of time we had. I love that I am doing this with my boys too. Fun times for sure.

the girls are in the house....

Ha ha...he he. I liked the title to this post...no DJ  here, but yes the girls are in the house...The chickens have moved to the coop outside full time! Nice to have them out there instead of the garage. I think they are happy too. So the play house has now become the hen house, with out even one waiver of a doubt the boys gladly turned it over to our feathered girls, pretty sweet huh? Nice and secure, dry and kinda cool to reuse something and make it so functional to the new addition to the family. Just love that!

A special day... 6 years old now!

We celebrated Spencer's 6th birthday. He asked for a suit, legos, root beer floats, spaghetti, and a visit to the lake to look for frogs and salamanders. All of his birthday requests were met. We had wonderful day, he was a sweet and a gracious little birthday boy. Smiling big and anyone who wished him Happy Birthday he wished it right back.

for the love of frogs

Spencer, Ruben, and Stella at Sarah's pond

Did you ever find a frog and just fall in love with it? Like the kind of love that you just want to put in your pocket and take very good care of it, or maybe in your bed so you can snuggle up to it at night and listen to it ribbit, or just put it on your hair so you can let it be with you. Well Spencer has and I must say I really do think it was love.

"I don't have texting on my shell phone"

The converstation goes something like this..."uh huh, yeah, hmmm umm, yes, no, uh huh, ok, i love you too dad, bye" Spencer talking on his "shell phone" My goodness this kid cracks me up!

Northwest Salamander

Pretty amazing what Spencer can find in the woods. He was so excited to find this he came running from the woods to the front yard where I was weeding with this salamander in his hands. It did make me screech a bit, I mean...I love animals of all kinds but there are a few little slimy looking things that just make me kinda jump and shiver. This thing is certainly one of them. Spencer was just so in awe over this "king sally" He said it was rare and that he was going to look at it for a minute then put it right back, and that is just what he did. I think it was about 6 inches long, yeah! a big one! We have seen these in our yard before, but it really is a rare sight, this is certainly the biggest one.

Fun after dark

When the sun shows it self like it did this weekend, there isn't much of a draw for me to be in the house, until after dark. This weekend when the sun went down(&kids went too) I went up to my machine and worked on a few projects. The first two is a blanket that I found at http://www.alewivesfabrics.com/ such easy directions for a throw blanket and the fabric is so lively it will look and feel great anywhere. The second project with the burlap was inspired from  http://mayamade.blogspot.com/  It is the the burlap scrubbie, which I lined with the left over wool batting from the blanket, so not only does it have great texture for scrubbing counters, pots, & dishes, it is spongy too. After it is all used up I won't feel anything but joyful to toss it in the compost bin! So when the sun goes down or when I need a break from those bright rays of sun, I love to go upstairs to that singer and get sewing.

Sun in the yard

The weekend brought us some very warm and lovely sun. So life indoors came out of doors. Clothing came off right away, the blanket was brought out, and of course a favorite past time came out too, Legos! The boys had a nice little sit and play legos session in the yard while I did some much needed weeding in the flowers. It was a great place to just be. All of us here, soaking the sun up and feeling quite content just being home in the yard.

{this moment}

Today I will join Amanda Soule for. . . . . . . .

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

A day off

The boys had an overnight at G'ma's and G'pa's house. Which allowed for some me time, treasured time for this Mom. I spent some of my day riding my bike to Westlake, eating beets and greens for lunch, and turning the dinner BBQ into a little fire on the deck. It was hard to call it a night. With nice weather I just don't want the day to end. I just threw some twigs on and it kept me warm for just a little longer.

Dinner Picnic

Sunday evening came up too quick. No one was willing to come in the house to eat dinner. I decided to pack it up and bring it to the back yard. We had a dinner picnic with hot food from the dutch oven that night. It was a great way to end the evening and a great way to make it last just a bit longer.

Having fun with Miss Chicken

Ruben plays with his feathered friends. It is so funny what he comes up with. The chickens don't seem to mind either. I thought this one was great. She really does have good balance, and Ruben really does have fun with them.
