Gardening buddy

Over the weekend I really got inspired in the garden. I planted seeds for starts and then also planted seeds directly in the ground too. Dill, nasturtiums, dahlia, yellow crook neck squash, zucchini, beets, lettuce, broccoli, and carrots. I have more to plant and want to get even more than that too! Rosie(who in fact turned out to be Roger...a story for another time) was along my side the entire time. He/she is such a friendly and curious little rabbit. I pulled a lot of weeds which went right to the chicken pen. They love getting the weeds from the yard. A good weekend of gardening. Left me wanting more time in the garden. I am hopeful for what may grow and inspired to plant more check on plants and seeds daily.

A local beauty

I am impressed by the beauty each time I come to the ocean. I love to see the beach in low and high tide. Yet the natural treasures that are exposed by the low tide are always a delight to see. The textures, colors, smells, and sounds of the low tide are so appealing to my senses. I am forever grateful for the ease and access of such a wonderful place.

A loose tooth

Spencer's tooth had been loose for at least a week. He was really getting fed up with the tooth being in the way of eating. He asked Tres to tie the floss around the tooth and then to the door so he could slam the door. I was impressed with his bravery. He actually did it too! slammed that door...oops the floss was too long. He chuckled a bit and then almost cried. He immediately changed his mind and then wanted the floss off. Which was not an easy thing to do. In fact Tres and I both tried to get it off and we couldn't. Spencer yanked on the floss a few times and the tooth didn't come out. Spencer asked Tres to give it pull and the tooth came right out. So two missing front teeth couldn't look cuter than on this big little first grader.

Strangest thing...

A dirt bath?! Spencer just finished a book report on chickens for school. We caught the chickens dirt bathing and snapped a little picture of them. It was funny to see how Spencer found this so peculiar.

A spring flower

I spotted this trillium the other day on my walk at Woahink. I was pretty excited about seeing the first one of the season. I had been hoping to find one and then there she stands so tall and beautiful. One of my favorites.

Celebrating Melisa

We had a fun Saturday morning celebrating Melisa's Birthday. We made a cake, brunch, listened to music, got silly, preformed and entertained, laughed, ate, drank, and got happy. All for the love of Melisa...sister, aunt, daughter, friend. XO Happy Birthday Melisa

Late one night

Tres went fishing from the jetty with a friend. He came home quite proud of his catch. Too late to fry them all up that night. The next night however...ocean to table. Delicious and with grits, happy family with table full of fresh fish. Yum!!

A sunny and warm spring day

We had a couple of very warm and sunny days a little while ago. I didn't get these up right away. When the warmth of the sun came out it was amazing to see the people and animals come alive. There was an extra pep in each step, a bigger smile on each face, and an overall inspiration to come out and about with fewer clothes and a little bit of wildness.

On his birthday

A little surf then out for pizza in the sunshine. Melisa and Ruben had made a chocolate stout cake with chocolate gnash frosting. Most divine tasting, smelling, and looking cake. Later that evening we had a fire in the backyard a few neighbors over for some campfire entertainment. A wonderful day for celebrating my Love's Birthday.

diy: remake a snack bag.

7th Generation makes little disolvable packets of dish washer soap. I actually like the bag they came in and love the soap, but have decided the card board box the soap also comes in is much easier for the environment to deal with. I decided to re use the bag that the packets came in by refacing the surface with duck tape I like. After washing it out well and covering with a pretty pattern. I stuffed with a nice phat hummus, cucumber, red onion, red lettuce, kalmatta olive sandwich and took it to work with me. I was just tickled about the remaking of my little lunch bag. I am always looking for tips on non disposible lunch box and to go items.

Wall Ball

"It's like this Dad, when I call "hammers" then you hit like this, ok. you got? alright lets get this game started"

Wall ball has been the best used of space for this wall for a while now. Wall Ball has been are reall ball. lol. These two go at it and then get Tres and I involved too. But really I haven't beat either one of them yet. It really is a fun game, you'll be smiling for sure. Plus there is a lingo like any sport, a lingo that is just as darling as ever to hear and learn from these two. No accidents so far, just red sweaty cheeks and good ol' fun.

More from Spring Break

A road trip w/ muffins on the way:)

Covered bridge on hwy 18

Russles Street BBQ in Portland. loved it!

Excitement on the scavenger hunt at Oregon Japanese Gardens.

An elephant, we also saw baby Lily, she was nursing it was so adorable, I could of watched all afternoon.

Nest of an Eagle at the Portland Zoo

Actually I think the cheetah enjoyed observing us as much as we did him.

This one was truly educational. The tow in the back of photo definitely courting, lots of comments from spectators. I actually felt privileged to observe their behavior.

OMSI for a IMAX movie on baby animals. super sweet. the screen made Spencer kinda dizzy though.

Lots of pictures with this one. A few days in Portland was a nice time visiting the city yet we all missed our country home. We'll be back though, so much to see and do.

Red Bombers final game

Funny name for the team the kids picked. Spencer's first season playing on the basketball team. He did so great, tried his best at each game, had a huge smile while running down the court, made some shots rebounds. I loved watching him play. It brought memories of playing basketball to me. It was a favorite sport of mine to play when I was a kid.
The last practice of  the season was kids against parents. It was so fun, I had a smile on my face for a whole hour! Jake and Ruben played with me on the parents team, it was a blast!
